The 31 Days of July

Colin and I marked our 4-year marriage anniversary yesterday, July 30th, 2014.

Time flies.

We’ve been together for almost six years now, and it only seems like yesterday we were kids skinny dipping in the park, dancing to trashy teenage music, &&spending hours on the phone late at night into the early morning.

We made lots of dumb choices (…and still do).

We were reckless.

We were kids.

Colin started doing the 31 days of July our second summer together. Each day he made it a point to do something special for me, whether that be a sweet note hidden under my pillow, a drawing, or one year, a surprise dinner in the private back room at Biaggi’s. It’s something that I look forward to every year.

This year I decided to join in. It was so much fun! I didn’t realize, that on days when I was swamped with work, Project HEAL, and taking care of our home, how hard it was to make sure I did something for Colin. Honestly, I missed a day or two, but I made them up.

We both had $30 to get each other something special for our anniversary. Colin &&I are not the “buy something easy and be done with it” type people. We like thoughtful gifts that take time a effort, not money.

This year colin made me a collage of poems, art work, and notes from past 31 Days of July. It was so sweet!

I wanted to make this year really special. This is the first year we celebrated without an eating disorder, and that meant the world to me. Colin does so much for me and our family on a daily basis, and always has; he deserved something out of this world amazing. I planned my gift out a week before and had a hard time not spilling the beans to Colin! I even asked him if I could tell him! This is what I did…

**NOTE: I am a badass and made that wand šŸ™‚ **

He cried. He was so excited! It felt amazing to do something solely for him. I carefully thought it out and dedicated time to complete this…something I could have never done with Anamia (she was my eating disorder).

For dinner that night, I made us a wonderful vegan chocolate&&vanilla cake with peanut butter chocolate frosting, &&mushroom onion pizza. And we BOTH enjoyed it! It was a peaceful, beautiful, exciting day. Each moment was treasured by us both, and I can’t wait for next year!
