Green (well Red) Starburst Smoothie

The Green Starburst Smoothie was a total accident. Colin asked me to make him a tropical smoothie this morning, but when I looked in the freezer we had no mango or pineapple. All we had was cherries, raspberries, and strawberries…and that’s how the Green Starburst Smoothie was born.

I am still shocked at how fruity and starbursty(?) it tasted! All I could think of was the red starburst that I used to LOVE as a kid.

Sneaking greens into smoothies is so ridiculously easy. Spinach is tasteless, while kale and chard have a more earthy flavor. This smoothie is great for kids or difficult husbands who don’t like to eat their greens.

YUM!!

I live off smoothies for the most part! Last year RA moved into my left jaw joint; chewing grew painful. Lo and behold, I see “365 Vegan Smoothies” is coming out soon. Great book I use every day. Isn’t it cool to pack in all those healthy greens and you’d never know it. If you haven’t tried already, pick up some dandelion greens (detoxifying), watercress, and fresh basil (oh my goodness, it smells and tastes divine, especially with berries). I haven’t made a smoothies without greens in months! Your blog page is beautiful, btw. Friendly and professional at the same time. And I love hooty owls 😉

Good your using real stuff – not the dreaded ‘added sugar.’ As a diabetic I can do with some of these recipes. Great blog.
