Project HEAL: Recovery Is

20140312-094000.jpgSo I have some really exciting news…I am the new chapter leader for the Wilmington, NC chapter of Project HEAL! I am so incredibly thrilled, I can’t contain myself!!!!!!!!!!!! AH! OMG!!!!

Ok, now that I got that out, I wanted to share some of the amazing things Project HEAL does to support those with eating disorders. They are a non-profit organization that raises funds to send people with eating disorders to treatment who couldn’t otherwise afford it. Isn’t that amazing! I mean, how could you not get behind that. They also spread eating disorder awareness and serve as a testament that full recovery is possible. I just can’t believe I am a part of this wonderful organization.

Right now, Project HEAL has a social media campaign going called Recovery Is. The campaign is intended to raise awareness about eating disorder recovery in a positive light. What an awesome idea!

Project HEAL is asking that anyone (survivors, supports, or people who just want to contribute) write their “Recovery Is” on a white sheet of paper and take a photo of themselves holding their own “Recovery Is.” Then, post your photo on your social media website(s) using #RecoveryIs, @TheProjectHeal (Twitter), and/or @ProjectHEAL (Instagram). Also! Don’t forget to fill out the photo release form so that Project HEAL can use your photo for this project and future projects to come (you can find the form here).

Many people have submitted their photos already but Project HEAL needs more! Head over to Project HEAL to make your own “Recovery Is.”

Now, I also wanted to talk about our chapter here in Wilmington, North Carolina. Our chapter actually began in Raleigh, North Carolina but with a leadership change we decided to move it down to the coast. I am so excited to be taking on the responsibility of Chapter Leader.

With the location change, we are looking for volunteers! People who are passionate about recovery or who just want to make a difference, then we need you. If you or anyone you know in North Carolina are interested, please email us at If you live else where there are plenty of other chapters that you can get involved in (you can find them here)!

Head on over to our Facebook page for more information on our wonderful organization! ALSO, we are now on twitter! @ProjectHEALNC
